Our Shared Purpose

Matt Lehrman

Social Prosperity Partners

As we approach Thanksgiving and the final stretch of the year, I wanted to offer something a little different — a short reflection on the work we share and the spirit of togetherness that holds our communities together.

You don’t need me to tell you that public life feels heavy these days. You see it in your meetings, in your inbox, and in the way people show up — hurried, hopeful, frustrated, determined. And yet, every day, local leaders across the country continue doing the steady, patient work that makes democracy real. That persistence is worth noticing. It’s worth honoring. And it’s worth being thankful for.

This week’s episode isn’t an interview; it’s a message from me to you. A moment to pause, reflect, and reconnect with the purpose that brought you to public service in the first place. My hope is that it offers a breath of encouragement at a time when encouragement matters.

I also share a quick update:
Community Catalysts will take a short publishing break through December and return in January with new conversations, new insights, and more stories from the people who make local leadership work.

I hope you’ll give this reflection a listen — and carry its spirit into the season ahead.
